ALL PLAYERS MUST WEAR TEAM SHIRT. FAILURE TO DO SO RESULTS IN A TECH FOR EACH MISSING SHIRT AT THE START OF THE GAME.
The Game
For all games, the clock will start at the scheduled game time unless the start of the game is delayed by tournament staff for any reason.
For every 5 minutes a team delays the start of a game, that team will be assessed a 5 point penalty. At the ten minute mark after the original scheduled game time if teams are still not present and ready for play, the game will be declared a forfeit.
If both teams are late, but within the grace period, the game will be played as normal with only the clock being started at the normal starting time. NOTE: Both teams must still be signed in and on the court no later than five (5) minutes after the original starting time.
Time Period
A game consists of two (2)-twenty (20) minute halves. The clock will run continuously except: during the last two (2) minutes of the second half of regulation play, and the last one (1) minute of overtime periods, the clock will stop at every dead ball.
Halftime will be five (5) minutes.
Teams will get three (3) time-outs per game, and an additional time-out for each additional overtime period. Time-outs are thirty (30) seconds in length. If a team calls a time-out and doesn’t have one, then a two-shot technical foul will be assessed, plus possession of the ball for the non-violating team at half-court.
An official’s time out shall be called in case of serious emergency or injury and it shall be the judgment of the referee that will determine the length of the time out taken.
If Darkness is becoming an issue: Overtime begins with a jump-ball. If the game remains tied at the end of a first overtime, the ball will be jumped at center court and sudden death will be in effect. (First team to score wins).
Attire
No jewelry, hats, jeans, metal braces, or dress shoes are permitted to be worn during the game.
All players must wear their team shirt. Failure to do so will result in a team tech for each missing shirt.
Basketball shoes with non-marking soles are required.
Athletic shorts must be worn.
A game ball will be provided, or you may use your own ball as long as both teams agree.
Substitutions
All players must report to the scorer’s table before entering the game.
Substitutions are permitted during the following situations:
At the referee’s whistle permitting entry
When the ball is dead
held ball situation
free throw situation
Throw-in
*Players may not enter the game until the referee has given the O.K*
Fouls
One and one free throws awarded at the seventh team foul of each half.
A player must leave the game upon her/his sixth foul.
*In the event a team only has five (5) players at the start of the game, a player’s sixth foul will result in a “five minute penalty”, in which the player will sit for five (5) minutes. After the five minutes, the player can return to the game with four (4) fouls.
Any ejected players must leave the playground (not just the court) before play resumes.
